Josephine Baker
The use of women as spies has a long history. It is well known that Cyrus the Great often used women, who worked in brothels, as spies. Women tended, and still do, to be not seen, viewed as harmless or just pretty faces. But many battles and coups have been won and/or lost by information gathered from pillow talk. I love a good spy story and one of my favorites is Josephine Baker’s. Known and beloved as a singer and dancer all over Europe during WWII Josephine worker for the French intelligence agency as a spy. German soldiers were so enamored by her that with one flash of her smile they allowed her free and easy access across the borders never knowing her music sheets held coded messages in invisible ink. Moral of the story never under estimate a cute girl with a winning smile and personality.
